Bruno Schmitz and the Giant Gothic Phallus
Did you know that Bruno Schmitz (1858-1916) was Germany's foremost architect of national monuments? He's the architect of Indianpolis' Soldier's and Sailor's Monument (1902).





In Europe, Mr. Bruno designed a monument in 1897 (the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Denkmal) for Kaiser-Wilhelm II, the last Emperor of the German Empire and the guy who led Germany into defeat in World War I:
