Humanity was my business!
"Humanity was my business!" the Ghost of Jacob Marley thunders, with a good long shake of his chain and lock boxes, in reply to his former partner Ebeneezer Scrooge's remark, "You always were a good businessman, Jacob.""Business!" cried the Ghost, wringing his hands again.
"Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence were, all, my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!'
With that sobering statement to Scrooge, Marley's Ghost sends a chill up the spine of his old partner, as well as every reader of the story ever since.
What is YOUR business?
